Fixed braces consist of brackets attached to each tooth, with a wire running through them. Depending on the type of brackets, braces can generally be divided into metal, aesthetic and self-ligating. At the top of our offer are aesthetic brackets, crystal clear and transparent, which are easily removable and do not damage tooth enamel.
With our expert supervision, fixed braces allow optimal, precise and fast tooth movement.
Fixed braces are fitted in one visit, and the wires are replaced by the orthodontist, usually every 4 to 6 weeks. The new wire creates tension on your teeth, gently moving them into the desired position, which is not painful, but may cause some discomfort. Orthodontic treatment takes an average of one and a half years.
Maintaining proper oral hygiene is crucial when wearing fixed braces, as food can easily get trapped around the wire and brackets. Retention is necessary following orthodontic treatment to prevent teeth moving back to their original positions. Retainers can be removable, in the form of thin splints that have to be worn at night, or fixed, made of a thin wire that is glued to the back of your teeth and doesn’t affect everyday use.
