Apicoectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove the end of a tooth root with a periapical inflammation from the bone in the apex area.
It is most commonly performed in case of a cyst, granuloma, periapical lesion, an instrument left behind in the root canal, overfilled or underfilled root canal, apex fracture, prosthetic reasons.
These oral surgery procedures are performed only if inflammation persists after exhausting all other options of conservative root canal treatment.
