The blepharoplasty is the operation of the eyelids. Popular with both men and women, it is an increasingly common surgical procedure.
Blepharoplasty removes excess skin, fat and stretched muscles, thus correcting the upper and/or lower eyelids.
The part of the body with the thinnest skin is around the eyes. As it ages, the skin loses its elasticity and the muscles that support the eyelids become weaker, creating excess skin on the eyelids, forming fat “bags”, dark circles and wrinkles. It is not just an aesthetic problem – in some cases, the eyelids are so low that they obstruct normal vision.
It is an intervention that will aesthetically and functionally open the patient’s eyesight.
After the operation the patient will appear younger, fresher and more rested and will have a wider field of vision.
Blepharoplasty is performed as a stand-alone procedure or simultaneously in combination with other cosmetic surgery operations on the face, such as facelifts, fillers and similar procedures.
Blepharoplasty is a very common and successful method of cosmetic surgery.
Generally performed under local anesthesia and lasts an average of 1-2 hours, depending on the number of eyelids that are subjected to correction.
The surgery is completely painless and the scar is invisible because the skin of the eyelids is very thin and very fast healing.
After surgery, the patient is kept under medical observation for a couple of hours and then released for home treatment.
Postoperative pains do not exist and dry and cold tablets are applied locally in the first 12 hours.
Points are taken from 3-5 days later. Most patients have increased tear production and have the feeling of having a foreign body inside the eye. The sensation can last up to two postoperative weeks.
Antibiotic therapy with eye drops and ophthalmic ointment is usually prescribed. The patient can return to normal activities in 7-14 days, sometimes even less.
Blepharoplasty is a permanent method. The patient will get a fresher look, rejuvenated by an average of 5-6 years.
By performing blepharoplasty, the inevitable effects of aging are removed, eyelids are fixed in suspension and with this grip the “bags” in the eyes and small wrinkles around the eyes that give your face a tired appearance are eliminated.
Performing a relatively easy surgery lasting only an hour, blepharoplasty is an extremely effective treatment in making the patient’s face much more rested and young.
The treatment “reopens” the eyes of the patient with very evident results, lasting and without scars.
